Adelaide is a city designed to continually support and enrich the wellbeing and quality of life of its people.

As such, in the wake of the impact of COVID-19, we're looking toward a positive future and have asked what you need from our city in the weeks, months and possibly even years to come.

Together, we need to recover + reimagine Adelaide as a thriving city.

Thank you!

We have been overwhelmed with all of the incredible ideas we have received from the Adelaide community throughout our Recover + Reimagine initiative. Your contribution has helped us better understand how we can assist Adelaide to recover from the affects of COVID-19 and reimagine itself as a thriving city.

We have implemented a broad range of effective and exciting ideas, with a few highlights including distributing 140 heaters to hospitality retailers to encourage outdoor dining, and the installation of festive lighting in Melbourne St, O’Connell St and Hutt St to welcome our community back into the city.

These are just a small number of ideas implemented so far, with many more completed or still to come over the coming months. Make sure you don't miss the great initiatives that are happening now, including:

  • Winter Weekends, every Friday and Saturday until 29 August
  • Music in the Streets, every Friday until 25 September
  • Musée Extérieur, until 14 September

Please keep an eye on our website and Facebook page to keep up to date with all our Recover + Reimagine initiatives.

Once again, we thank you for your invaluable contribution in helping our wonderful city to not only recover, but to also reimagine what’s possible!

Experience Adelaide’s history by being part of it

Create historic, interactive visual markers throughout the city that attract people of all ages. For example, on (or near) the balcony of the Town Hall participants could edit themselves into the photo with the Beatles or at the Adelaide Oval, Crows fans could insert themselves into images of the Grand Final celebrations after 1997 & 1998 Premierships and then…

Speed dining - order twice as much and linger half as long

Support local businesses as they manage opening up of their spaces to welcome more dine-in customers in accordance to easing of restrictions. If we hang out too long, it affects businesses being able to turnover tables. This means less income on a given day with same overheads. It also impacts others diners not having a chance to have a dine-in experience with their mates. So share the dining-out experiences. Order twice as much and linger half as long :)

Public Sculptures

Apart from historical documentation, Adelaide requires more public sculptures created from any material to reflect our current social environment, so that in the future it provides a window in time for society to reflect on.  Also a draw card for visitors. Not a new idea but one that has worked during the ages.  If you want to go out on a limb, even something along the lines of pyramid style sculpture, Mammoth. That would really be a topical point of debate forever.
