Project Information

The revitalisation of O’Connell Street is funded and moving towards delivery.

This project is a great opportunity to enhance one of North Adelaide’s key main streets. The revitalisation will improve safety, walkability, and cycling access, introduce more green spaces, and create a welcoming public environment that supports local businesses while preserving the street’s heritage.

Early works will begin in mid-2025 and will focus on the section between Tynte Street and Archer Street during the completion of the construction of Eighty Eight O’Connell to minimise disruption.

These early works will be limited to footpath and new street furniture, improved lighting, enhanced pedestrian crossings, and does not include the separated bikeway.

Paver Design Trial

As part of this revitalisation, we are also trialling two paver design options to ensure the final selection complements the street’s character. A trial installation will be in place on Lombard Lane by 30 March 2025, and and we want you to help us choose! Take a look and let us know which paver design you prefer.

Consultation closes on 14 April 2025, 5pm.

Explore the Concept Design

As we finalise the design and prepare for construction, we invite residents, businesses, and property owners to explore the concept design and see how the project is shaping the future of this much-loved street.
