2025 Shannon’s Adelaide Rally held in November is a world class motorsport event and includes activations and activities which require the closure of roads in the City of Adelaide.
We are asking for feedback about proposed event road closures for the 2025 Shannon’s Adelaide Rally, as follows:
1. 2025 Shannon’s Adelaide Rally – Gouger Street Party, Saturday 22 November 2025
The Adelaide Rally Street Party has a history dating back to 1997 and brings 450 rally, rare and exotic cars into the CBD for this annual, free community event that attracts near 10,000 people. The event features live music and involves a proposed temporary road closure as follows:
From 3:00pm to 9:00pm on Saturday 22 November 2025, the following roads are proposed to be closed:
- Gouger Street from Blenheim Street to Morphett Street
- Gouger Street (southern carriageway) between Mill Street and Morphett Street
- Gouger Street (northern carriageway) between the Central Market U-Park Entrance and Morphett Street
- California Street in its entirety
- Witcombe Street from Gouger Street to a point 25 meters north
- Coglin Street from Gouger Street to a point 35 metres south
- Compton Street from Gouger Street to a point 20 metres south
- Field Street from Gouger Street to a point 30 metres south
- Moonta Street, between Gouger Street and a point approximately 25 meters north
2. 2025 Shannon’s Adelaide Rally – Event Finale, Sunday 23 November 2025
The 2025 Shannon’s Adelaide Rally is heading to North Adelaide for the event’s finale and podium presentations, dubbed the North Adelaide Finale.
From 12:30pm to 8:30pm on Sunday 23 November 2025, the following roads are proposed to be closed:
- O’Connell Street, from Archer Street to Tynte Street
- O’Connell Street west carriageway from Tynte Street to Wigg Lane
- Tynte Street from O'Connell Street to Mansfield Street
- Tynte Street south carriageway from O’Connell Street to Centenary Street
- Tower Street South, Chapel Street, Tynte Place and Tynte Court in their entirety

The 2025 Shannon’s Adelaide Rally – Gouger Street Party is a popular, annually recurring event. The proposed road closure is timed to commence from close of Adelaide Central Market trading when traffic volumes are known to reduce.
The 2025 Shannon’s Adelaide Rally – Event Finale is a proposed new major event for North Adelaide and will attract many people to the area. If approved, the event will be held on a Sunday afternoon when traffic volumes are expected to be reduced, seeking to minimise traffic and community impacts. The proposed event is timed to align with the opening of Eighty Eight O’Connell.
Under the Local Government Act 1999, public consultation is required for events that propose to alter the purpose of a road, by using a public road for business purposes, and when the road closure would impact traffic to a material degree.
